Before you write
Calls do not ring when the app is closed
Your phone has put the app to sleep, and a sleeping app cannot be woken for a call. In your phone's settings, allow Clavenzo to run in the background and turn off battery optimisation for it. On Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei phones this is the usual cause; the app detects it and offers a one-tap fix on the home screen.
It rings but nothing appears on screen
On Android, allow full-screen notifications for Clavenzo so a call can show itself over the lock screen. If your phone is on silent, a call still vibrates. That is deliberate.
People cannot reach me
Open the app once so it registers, and check the other person has your current code. If you imported an identity on a new phone, the code is the one from the old phone, not a new one.
A file will not send
Files over 1 MB travel phone to phone only and never through a server. The transfer waits for a direct connection and resumes by itself, and the app says so on the message.
Moving to a new phone
Export your identity and an encrypted backup from the old phone first. The key that is your address exists only on that phone, and we cannot recover it because we never had it. Carry the file and its code separately.
I forgot a backup or transfer code
There is nothing anyone can do. The code is shown once and stored nowhere, by us or on your phone. Without it the file is unreadable, which is the property that makes it safe to keep anywhere.
What we cannot help with
We cannot reset your identity, recover a lost key, or read your messages. There is no account to reset and no copy of your conversations on our side. That is the design, and the privacy policy explains exactly how far it goes. To report abuse, use Report and block in the app, or write to abuse@clavenzo.com. Reporting a security problem
Write to security@clavenzo.com. Tell us what you found, how to reproduce it, and how you would like to be credited. We will not threaten you, and we will not ask you to keep quiet indefinitely. Our contact details are also in security.txt.
